Tahquamenon falls is also called "rootbeer falls" because of the color of the water. The amber color of the water is not rust or its mud. The interesting mud color of the water is caused by tannin leached from the Cedar, Spruce and Hemlock drained by the river. The variety of wildlife includes black bear, moose, deer, fox, and beaver can be found in the state park.
